Advent Studios was started in 2004 as a promotions company. I worked for a local Houston band called “Headtrip”. I designed their website, T-Shirts, CDs, flyers and any other promotional items they needed to help bring in the crowds when they played. The first logo we created for the band sold 25 shirts their first night playing.

As the band grew and won a couple of local competitions, we produced some 5 and 6 track demo CDs that we sold and gave away at shows. We designed everything from the cover art to the CD labels and even recorded the music for the band.

While I was promoting the band, I pursued my college degree at the Art Institute of Houston in Interactive Media Design (flashy term for graphics & web design). I graduated May 2005.

Shortly after graduation, I was hired by Home Fragrance Holdings, Inc. as a full-time web designer. HFH was a leading candle manufacturer for over 20 years and sold candles to many major department stores such as Pier 1, Sears, Dillard’s and many more. Unfortunately, the company went under in September of 2006 and I was forced to find other employment.

I had a friend who was a lawyer that told me on more than one occasion to “always get it in writing!” It’s not just for my security, but it also helps the client to feel reassured that they are going to get what they’re paying for. I have very detailed contracts that I walk through with my clients step-by-step. Nothing is left to chance or miscommunication.

Advent Studios also commits to ‘doing it right the first time’. From the beginning, your website is designed and coded with search engines in mind. There are many companies who would charge an extra fee to help you increase your search engine ranks, but we put you well on your way from the beginning. I believe that proper search engine optimization is part of a professional web design and should be included without being asked.
